Sailing in Cyclades Greece

The most famous Greek Islands in the world

Cyclades

Just to the southeast of mainland Greece, it is one of the most challenging sailing areas in the Mediterranean, the Cyclades islands, known worldwide as some of the most picturesque islands in this ancient country. In fact, if you are looking for photos of Greece, you will probably find pictures of the blue vaulted churches, the turquoise waters and the wild landscapes of the Cyclades.

The Cyclades are so named because the island complex consisting of Mykonos, Syros, Santorini, Paros and Naxos are all located in a circle around the island of Delos, the birthplace of the god Apollo. You can easily visit this island during your holiday.

The Cyclades are also world-renowned as a place for fantastic sailing, with over 200 islands wandering among them and exploring. More challenging than other areas because of its location in the middle of the Aegean Sea and the famous winds, Meltemi, a northern wind spreading between the islands. The Cyclades is a good bet for those looking for great emotions.

Apart from the magnificent architecture, clear waters and the amazing sailing, Cyclades’s nightlife worths more than a mention. Mykonos is widely recognized as the capital of Greek nightlife, and the islands of Santorini and Ios are not far away. In fact, they say in Greece that this feast dates back to the Socrates, on the pretext of “academic gatherings”. To sum up, the number of islands and the size of the islands themselves means that it is easy to get away from the celebration if we so wish! Cyclades offer something for everyone.
